Plaster and lath work, from wall to cornice

Six kinds of work, all on old lath-and-plaster houses. Each page says what is included, what shapes the job, how it goes and which rules apply.

  • Wall repair

Cracks, holes and loose plaster, repaired to match the wall around them.

  • Ceilings and lath

Sagging ceilings re-fastened where they can be, re-plastered where they can't.

  • Cornices and medallions

Cleaned, mended and, where a length is gone, cast from what is left.

  • Three-coat plaster

Scratch, brown and finish coats when a wall has to be done over.

  • Stucco and parging

Exterior coats repaired so that water leaves the wall instead of staying in it.

What we don't do

Work we pass on

We don't hang drywall, paint, or fix roofs, gutters and pipes. We don't take new construction. If a wall is beyond saving, we say so in the survey, and we will plaster the new one to match if you want that.

Where another trade has to work first, such as a plumber at a leak, we say what needs to happen and in what order.

Not sure which one you need?

Send a photo or book a survey. The survey says which of these your wall needs, and which it doesn't.
