Tanya Eaddy
Owner and plasterer
Tanya reads each wall before anyone picks up a trowel, and puts the finish coat on herself. She is the person who will tell you honestly if a ceiling has to come down.
About
Eaddy Plaster & Lath is four people working on the old houses of Baltimore.
Tanya Eaddy founded the shop to do one kind of work well: plaster on lath, repaired by hand. Row houses are most of what we see, from narrow two-story blocks to larger houses with parlors and stair halls. We take on the repairs other trades avoid, because plaster behaves differently from drywall and needs people who know it.
We keep what is original wherever it can be saved. That is better for the house, and it is usually the more modest scope.

The crew
Owner and plasterer
Tanya reads each wall before anyone picks up a trowel, and puts the finish coat on herself. She is the person who will tell you honestly if a ceiling has to come down.
Lead plasterer, cornices
Herminio runs cornices in place and makes molds from what is left of a broken run. When a profile is gone, he works it out from the shadow lines on the wall.
Apprentice plasterer
Akeem does the prep: lath repair, containment and the first two coats. He is learning lime work from Herminio.
Surveys and paperwork
Adelaide photographs every layer we open, writes the survey you keep, and prepares scope documents for preservation boards and architects.
How we work
Sound plaster is part of the house. We repair it before we replace it.
Every survey marks each layer as original or later, so you know what you are deciding.
You keep the photographs and the survey note, for the next owner and for the board.
We will come to the house, read the walls and send you the note.
